Who? Please Tell Me who?

Everyone knows the classic poster for star wars the guy holding up the lightsaber and girl at his feet with vader in the back. I was recently told that that is not actually luke, but some one else. so my question is who is it?!??

 

You may be referring to preproduction versions which have imagery based on the characters who were in those earlier versions of the story - some of these have similar or even the same names as the characters we know, but have different personalities. Can you find the picture you're referring to?

It's clearly supposed to be Luke. However, the poster was a reworking of a slightly older poster by Tom Jung. The Hildebrandts changed Luke and Leia's faces so they didn't look exactly the same as Jung's- and as a result, they look nothing like Hamill or Fisher.

 

It's Luke Skywalker. As stated already, it doesn't look identical to Mark Hamill, but if someone said it wasn't Luke, they were either wrong, joking or referring to another poster.
