    Some ideas:

    1. Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings)
    2. Rob Bowman (X-Files the Movie)
    3. David Fincher (Se7en)
    4. Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future)
    5. Ridley Scott (Blade Runner)
    6. Chris Columbus (Harry Potter)
    7. David Twohy (Pitch Black)
    8. or .....(drum roll) Steven Spielburg (I know I know..why did I even bother thinking about it?)

What do you think? Personally I would have picked Lucas for E1, Bowman for E2, and Scott for E3.

    Ep1: Peter Jackson
    Ep2: Riddley Scott or Spielberg
    Ep3: Lucas

But having Lucas do all 3 is fine by me.

Well, it's Lucas that "SHOULD" direct the prequels. It's "his baby" as Speilberg has put it. But I wouldn't be against any one of those directors doing it since they're all great directors. However, I think Speilberg would be the best choice. He'd stay true to the "Star Wars format" the most. He would be the best bet for understanding the saga's consistency in editing and scene changes, as well as keeping the old serial feel.

    [face_laugh] You're hilarious, TK.

I say Lucas, or Irvin Kershner...Is Irvin Kershner still alive though? I mean, he was born in the 1920's...

Well Kershner was 57 when he directed ESB and he did pretty well. By today's standards, that's a positively ancient director. Maybe that's why he did such a good job. He had more life...and films under his belt, and thanks to that
experience he knew what he was doing.

Still, I think Lucas is the best choice for the prequels. It's his baby. He knows it better than anyone alive. He knows what he's doing. After Episode III and you see it all together, I think this will be more obvious.

Nobody but Lucas...this is really HIS vision (especially the prequels) and I think we need to see it the way he wanted us to see it...cheesy dialogue, over-done Special FX and all

    His abilities have made him...arrogant

I don't know why everyone is so set on Lucas as the director/writer of the prequels. He only directed one of the OT. Most of the GFFA has been formed by dozens of other writers. I just think Lucas is bringing his own creation to ruin with this Control Freak attitude of his. Let someone else have a shot you know. You did it once and it worked really well.

Is this the moment that all the fans string me up to be shot?

You people make me sick. Getting another director for the prequels isn't exactly like dusting crops...it's more like...

...screw it, this is a SW message board, you know the line. :)

    You're kidding, right?

Yeah, as far as I know, Kersh is still alive and kinkin' (he's only 79 or 80). [face_crinkly_old_man]

But I think the real question here should be "who would you rather have co-write the screenplays", and nobody captured the vision of SW like Larry Kasdan IMHO.

    They kinda direct themselves. ;)

EDIT: Us southernerners don't no no good grammar stuff...

Oops, guess I could've read down a couple of threads first, huh? [face_blush]

What's the big deal saying Kersh is too old? He's younger then Lee and that guy still does fight scenes.
