ROTS now holds the UK record, for 3-day, 3-day-weekend and 4-day box office run.

    extract from reuters.co.uk

"Director George Lucas's "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge Of The Sith" took a record 10.7 million pounds on its opening three-day weekend, beating the previous champion "Shrek 2" by 90,000 pounds.

The sci-fi epic also broke the four-day weekend record, earning 14.4 million pounds after including Thursday's takings, beating the 11.4 million total earned by the previous Star Wars release, "Attack Of The Clones"."

Update: According to Moxofficemojo, ROTS has taken $49 million in the UK so far.

That works out at just over £27 million.

Its well on course to beat Attack of the Clones after only 2 weeks on release.

At this rate it could beat ROTK as the fastest film to gross $1billion

Well lets wait and see. Remember only two movies have taken more than a billion worldwide, and it is by no means certain that ROTS will have the kind of legs to challenge either of these.

    But I hope it does!

It should make $800 million at least. We'll see where it goes from there.

ROTK and Titanic were still playing in cineams 5 months after being first released. I hope ROTS has that kind of staying power.

    It looks promising though
According to readings, ROTS has made half a $billion in 2 weeks. It took ROTK 9 weeks to reach a billion, and thats the fastest time.

If ROTS keeps up at this pace it will make $1billion in 2 weeks time. Then it will still have around a month to make more.

After all, if a film as rubbish as Titanic can make that much money, surely a far superior film should do better
