ST who thinks the main reason for pg-13 is...

Our antagonist straight out w/o any sugar coating murdering his own father

As ridiculous as the hobbit 3 crap was (see earlier posts of mine) I could understand this being deemed a bit tense for the younglings

 

I suspect part of it is the blood smeared on the helmet

 

JJ bribe the Rating Guild is clearly the only reason. He knew a PG or G would kill this movie.

 

Everything with "sci-fi action violence" is rated PG-13 these days.

 

The violence in this film is pretty visceral in comparison to say, ANH.

I think back on ANH and when Obi-Wan "dies" he simply disappears into The Force. No blood, no sliced off or sliced up body parts.

I think the 13 rating is reasonable. The film is full of violence. And my friend took his 5 year and later admitted to me that he probably pushed it a little bit. His son confided in him that he was scared a couple times. I wouldn't take my 5-7 year olds.

The rating system is all over the place, though. My ricidulous rated movie is The Kingdom of the Crystal skull. That was rated pg13 in 2009! For what?! If Crystal Skull is pg13, then TFA should be R. Haha

 

Last crusade kinda skirts by it too I blame the overreaction to temple of doom (released before the establishment of pg-13) im still kinda on the fence bout rots really the burning of anakin mayb but is that really enough?
