Can you imagine how people would react if someone started yelling that he was the son of God nowadays? Yeah, that should've happened to Jesus. Those folk in Judea were gullible

Prophet. He wasn't preaching "Christianity": That was a religion named after him long after he died. He was a Jewish guy who was just trying to make the world a better place.

Well, that's what Other is for, although in all honesty I don't really see how you can say that...?

 

Well, there's only one option that is mutually exclusive from the others, and that's the delusional cult leader. And while I don't agree with the delusional part, I do agree with the latter clause. The rest of the options are not contradicting, thus, they can all be meshed together in an "all of the above" category, without any committing any logical fallacy.

 

But Jesus didn't lead a cult, he was Jewish and never once proclaimed to be anything but that. The "cult" of christianity sprung up only after his death.

 

I think he may have been a real person, but that most of the things attributed to him were either adapted from earlier stories or written by other people (i.e. the authors of Mark, Matthew, Luke, John).

 

I disagree. He was the figurehead of a very controversial Jewish cult. True, most of the cultist activities and organizations came immediately following his death and (supposed) resurrection, but the subsequent cult that followed him, followed all of his teachings (presumably).
