I agree. Just because I'm not religious doesn't mean that I have the right to belittle people's beliefs.

 

High resolution photos, high definition video, multiple fingerprints and DNA evidence etc. etc. The standard stuff we have for other historical figures such as Alexander the Great, King David, Socrates, etc. etc.

 

Delusional cult leader, just like all the rest of them. People have believed crazier things.

 

The world is a much more pleasant place if one believes that Jesus is in fact the Son of God and that the past two thousand years of history have not been manufactured by a lie.

 

The Son of God sent to die for our sins.

And just on the drama VLM brought up, I don't necessarily believe in the existence of Jesus either. I don't generally bring this up as it is controversial, and pisses people off. And while I wouldn't say 'Jesus did not exist!' I do think his existence is very ambiguous, and if he did exist his life probably wasn't anything like the Bible's account.

There are some other historical works (written by non-Christians) that mention a Jesus who was crucified by Pontius Pilate.

Also, why can't the four Gospels be considered reliable accounts? The four writers (Matthew, Mark, John, Luke) had no logical reason to deceive by writing fictional "stories" of a mythical Jesus. All four writers were persecuted for what they preached- three were murdered and John was banished to an island. If they had made it all up, don't you think they would've said so, so as to avoid persecution?
