Who was the best casting choice among Harry Potter adult actors?

This was incredibly hard, but I just had to go with Alan Rickman. Oh my gosh... PERFECT!

Only a infinitesimal, microscopic, minuscule degree lower is David Thewlis as Professor Lupin.

Then of course there's Kenneth Branaugh as Lockheart and Maggie Smith as McGonagall (no one has voted for her yet! ) and Jason Isaacs and Robbie Coltrane...

Oh geez, I just liked them ALL!


(I must say that though Richard Harris got the age and hidden power of Dumbledore down pat, I loved Michael Gambon in the role! He just has that half-mad attitude and "eternal youth in age" aspect, though both actors had that whole "omnipresent knowing" thing going down.)

 

i voted Jason Isaacs... he's awesome.

But Alan Rickman and Kenneth Branagh were AWESOME choices... and richard harris as well.

I think all the adults were perfectly cast for their character except Michael Gambon.

He did not do nearly as well as Richard Harris, and I do not agree with the "changes" they made in his character. They should have tried to keep him as close to the original (because the original was MUCH closer to the book) than make him so.. hippyish.

 

OOoh this is a hard one. Both Richard Harris and Alan Rickman were/are great!

Richard Harris was great as Dumbledoor, too bad he died. *sigh*

 

The late Richard Harris has my vote. Whether he played King Arthur or the leader of the IRA, he always did a superb job. He had the foolish wisdom of Dumbledore down. I can not think of any actor who would have been better for the role. All of the adult actors really do fit their respective roles and bring them to life with great skill but there was just something about Harris that made him a cut above the rest.

Michael Gambon. The guy's a genius, and plays Dumbledore exactly how I imagined him. I HATED Harris's "stereotypical elderly wizard" way of playing Dumbledore - Gambon brought energy, fun, a twinkle in the eye and a sense of magic to the character. Top man.

 

They were all brilliant, but I had to go with Richard Harris. He portrayed Dumbledore perfectly!

 

What can I say: Gary is da man.

 

Maggie Smith.

 

They've all been really good but Harris has it. Rickman has been greatand the addition of Oldman and Kenneth were great choices too.

 

Tough call...

I picked Alan Rickman because he just embodies Snape. They are all wonderful, but Rickman is the only one who in my eyes is 100% the character.

 

I love them all but my vote goes to Coltrane!

 

Robbie Coltrane

 

While they are all brilliant, I gave my vote to Maggie Smith, only because when I first read the books, it was she who I pictured in my mind as McGonagall.

 

They all did a good job, especially Maggie Smith* and Robbie Coltrane but since I am a big fan of Alan Rickman he gets my vote.

Alan Rickman is a perfect Snape

 

I liked Gary Oldman, but I wasnt that big of a fan of the films so it doesnt realy matter
