Who WAS the most powerful Jedi/Sith II: Film and Novel Only

Should Plagueis count? He is only mentioned, never seen, never part of anything more than Sidious's seduction story for Anakin. It is not even proved in the films that Plagueis ever really existed, Plagueis could have been nothing but a figment of Palpy's imagination. There is nothing to warrant the assumption that what Sidious tells Anakin about Plagueis is real, or that it is anything but pure fantasy, designed to reel Anakin in, hook, line and sinker (although sucker may be more appropriate).

 

Luckily we have the OS to tell us that Plagueis was indeed real and Palpatine's master ( and of course we know in any event that Palpatine was trained by someone ).

 

Ah, but the title of the thread specifically states "Film and Novel Only". The original script is not the film, nor it is even the script they made the movie from, otherwise it would be the final script. So, I stand by my post. Given the parameters of the thread, it cannot be proved Plagueis is anything more than figment of Palpatine's imagination, so he shouldn't be listed.

Because Sidious rocks. He goes out to Pink Floyd-style lightshows while frumpy old Yoda stays
home and does crossword puzzles. He's a member of the Men's Hair Club, while Yoda trys to pull
off that lousy comb-over. Can you even imagine Yoda telling a dirty joke. I bet his face
would crack and fall off. Sidious would have you rolling on the floor. And who would look better
in a Ferrari, huh? Huh? Or how about a conga line....?

Sidious rocks while Yoda darns socks... so there!

The best skill with a lightsaber is easily Darth Maul.

 

If that was true he would have survived more than one film. He was good, but not that good.

Most powerful Force user overall in the six films: Yoda/Mace/Palps/Ana-Vader
Most potential: Anakin, Luke, Leia
Most potent against non force users is silly since most of them can pwn a regular person without breaking a sweat.

 

Darth Plagueiss was more powerful that Darth Sidious had to kill him in his sleep.

I don't think i can rank Anakin as the best with a lightsaber. In Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader he laments losing to Obi-Wan, and Sidious tells him how badly he would have fared against Yoda instead.

Knowledge: Darth Sidious, hands-down. He has the broadest knowledge base in the mythos, whether talking about the Force or just random arcania.

Power: Luke Skywalker. Anakin's potential and the time to master it equals incomparable power.

Mastery: Same as above. Anakin's potential and about four decades to hone it. Sidious, though, manages to come dang close in this department, as does Yoda.

Potential: Anakin, Luke, and Leia tied. You can't beat the Chosen One's potential, which is there in full force (pun intended, since that's my sense of humor for ya ) in his kids.

LIGHTSABER COMBAT:
Knowledge: Sidious. Again, when it comes to overall knowledge, Sidious has a leg up on the competition.

Skill: Luke. No one can beat Luke going all maelstrom-of-the-Force on a bunch of Vong mooks in TUF, taking his Djem So styling and ramping it up to speed comparable to that of Mace Windu's Vaapad. He took out, IIRC, five Slayers, while Kyp Durron, arguably in the next rung down from Skywalker-class Force potential (along with Whie Malreaux), couldn't even handle one. And it was weakened by Alpha Red, the anti-Vong bioweapon. Luke is repeatedly called the most skilled duelist in the Galaxy, and you can't argue with that.

Potential: Anakin, Luke, and Leia tied. Gotta love that Skywalker blood, right?

MISCELLANEOUS:
Potency Against Non-Force Users: Sidious. The man uses the Force to aid him in manipulating events on a galactic scale. With his Force-granted foresight, he manages to play events so that no matter what the outcome, he wins. He makes the galaxy rejoice when he becomes Emperor, for Yoda's sake! You can't beat that! Yes, this is also due to his cunning and wilyness, but you can't discount the fact that Palpy's foresight made this level of manipulation possible.
