ST Who Will be the best Actor/Actress in TLJ?

Yep. Neither get that much credit for their work in the OT, and both, IMO, have grown as actors over the decades (something many fans don't know since they don't follow much of their non-SW work).

I think a lot of people are going to be very pleasantly surprised at the depth and gravitas both bring to TLJ.

 

There could end up being several standouts, but I voted for Daisy. With the higher stakes and greater tension this time, I feel like her breakout in TFA will also go up a notch. That said, I'm most intrigued about Mark.

 

Oscar Isaac I thought gave the best performance in TFA, so I'm thinking he'll do the same in TLJ. However I don't see the others far behind, as Mark, Daisy, Adam, and John are all very good.

Agree. His voice alone is amazing. Really dramatic and full of authority.

 

He hasn't had this big of a role in decades...and I see signs of mediocrity and overselling acting in the preview. Fine, it's just a trailer, but there's a hint that something's off about his performance, and that's probably due to a lack of starting roles in so many years.

 

The man is a legend - But this is definitely a possibility I think!

Definitely have far higher hopes for Hamill after seeing the trailer. I think the poll has it right, he, Driver & of course Ridley will be the standouts.

I feel like Mark is going to nail this role. It looks to be such a different take on Luke, he could just as well have been playing a different character.. And while Harrison Ford slipping back into Han Solo in such a great way is impressive, if Mark pulls this off it will be legendary.

Overall, though, I believe Adam Driver to be the most talented actor of the bunch. And his character is written for big scenes in which he's massively conflicted and important to the plot so I voted for him.

 

Adam Driver is an amazing actor and I'm glad he's getting the respect he deserves in this poll.

 

Oscar Isaac....he makes such an impact even with limited screen time.... outstanding actor!

 

Mark Hamill has lived and breathed Luke Skywalker for 40 years & is what he is known for - Mark would not let himself phone it in or R J for that matter......

 

Regarding voice, Adam's really fits his character. It's deep and has lots of power. As strange as it sounds, in the trailer when he says "kill it", it sounds like a mix between William B. Davis and Alan Rickman.

Why is there no option for the actor playing Larry?

 

I went for Adam, but I am confident we're going to get great performances across the board.

Also, when I saw this thread title, I thought 'that's going to be an absolute pub brawl of a thread' - mark me down as pleasantly surprised at how civil it is thus far...

 

With all the talents in this movie, could SW finally gets an academy award/golden globe for best actor/actress/supporting role?
