ST Who will speak first, Luke or Rey?

The suspense is killing me. And what will the words be?

 

REY: "Happy Birthday, sorry I didn't gift wrap it."

 

Luke: "Um...who the **** are you?"

I'm torn... I loved the end of TFA...but another part of me thinks it would have had more punch if there was some dialogue e.g.

Luke "You're alive"
Rey "Father!!"

 

R2, after he overslept the whole first movie, he will be the first one to talk/beep in the next one.

 

Luke: "...I guess now I have to kill you and find a new island."

 

How about, a homing beacon starts beeping on Rey, and TIE Fighters swarm in attacking the both of them, sending them diving into the ocean?

 

Well there was that scene of Kylo Ren aboard the MF that was cut... Hmmm

 

That would be insane.

My guess is that Luke will talk first, he will break the silence.

 

Poe. Duh.

 

I think it would be funny if they reference the exchange between Kylo Ren and Poe.

Luke ...
Rey ... (with lightsaber extended)
Luke ...
Rey "Is this where you talk first? Do I talk first? It's hard to tell with that beard..."

Ok, I'll shush now.

 

I think it will start somehow like this - would be an awesome opening + a big twist

 

Luke: so you're the one the fools think is stronger than me.
Then he uses the force to throw her way out into the ocean.

Then Luke goes and hunts down the new characters one by one. First he flings Finn out into space, then he uses the force to crash Poe's X-wing. Then he finds Kylo and skewers him with his lightsaber. Then he finds Snoke and slices him up.

I'm not certain if Disney is bold enough to go in this direction, though, so they probably just won't show the conversation.

 

A lot will depend on stuff we don't know... if he has actually not seen or heard anything about the lightsaber since it fell down the cloud city shaft. If he knew Maz had it, for example, he wouldn't need to ask where she got it. (or if his hand was still gripping it lol) If he knows who Rey is (probably) or not. If he's sensed Han's death or not. etc

 

C-3PO will suddenly appear and ruin their moment before either of them can speak.

"Master Luke! I'm ever so happy to see you again!"

 

Rey: Who talks first? I talk first, you talk first?
Luke: *mumbles* The old woman gave it to you...
Rey: Sorry, it's hard to understand what you're saying through all that...beard.

 

Now I want to see Hamill talking like Jeff Bridges in True Grit, and Rey and Luke's dynamic mirroring Mattie and Cogburn's.

 

CRAP! EHT beat me to it! C3PO will interrupt first like always...

 

Either character will be able to break the silence in a believable way, but I think it will make more sense for Luke to do the talking. After all, the look on his face indicates he was expecting her to show up, and that goes hand-in-hand with him taking the initiative to speak.

Something like:

Luke: "Welcome, young one. I have been expecting you. I am looking forward to completing your training. In time you will call me Master."

... but that would probably be a bit too Palpatine-like.

 

Luke. He'll say, "Whoever you are, I am not your father."

 

I'd like to see something like this...

 

Rey: I'm looking for someone.
Luke: Looking? Found someone, you have, I would say, hmmm?
Rey: Right...
Luke: Help you I can. Yes, mmmm.
Rey: I don't think so. I'm looking for a great warrior.
Luke: Ohhh. Great warrior. Wars not make one great.
