The derisive nickname is "Batgod" for a reason.

 

Watchmen is not in the same universe. Same multiverse, yes.

 

Batman is one of my fav characters of all time. But the idea that all he needs is "prep time" to defeat anyone could be applied to anyone. I think it used to be called "****" or "character shield'. It gets old.

 

According to who? Just because he's a great crime-fighter doesn't mean he's also the smartest guy around. There are people with actual enhanced super-intelligence beyond any man as well trained and learned as they might be.
Brainiac, Mr Terrific & Ozymandius are all smarter than Wayne who if we're honest is largely reliant of technology and the aid of his allies, heck even Prof Strange found out his identity.

Doom vs Batman would be a more interesting fight given how similar they are.
Although Doom would still win

Batman's strengths are based around his smarts and strategy, he needs prep time against foes who can best him in combat otherwise he'll lose. Remember he has no superpowers so he has to make up for that with planning.
In an out-of-the-gate random fight with most superpowered beings, Batman will lose unless he has some sort of edge he made for himself which would require prep time

 

Batman is just a regular guy who happens to have gadgets and a nifty suit. He doesn't have any god-like abilities. Although there's always the great argument that he could trump my picks because "he's the goddamned Batman".

 

Did not Wolverine just beat Batman? Yet Batman is supposed to have some chance against Manhatten because of "prep time"? Technically I could beat Galactus with enough prep time though I have no idea how much time that would be.

3. Mr. Terrific
and they don't rank Braniac because he's an alien robot. And to reiterate EF's point - Watchmen is not in the DC universe. The closest they've ever gotten was the Dr. Manhattan-esque Superman from an alternate dimension in Superman: Beyond.

Well, naturally. Batman's good, but he's no Lord of Latveria.

 

What about John Constantine? He's pretty damned smart outsmarting beings who are billions of years old.

 

Who the hell is Mr. Terrific? Mr. Fantastic's evil twin brother?

 

No you couldn't. You would never have enough time, in your present state, to beat Galactus. You would easily die before the slightest possibility became available to you.

As for Batman, he's not the smartest man on the planet, but a case could be made for most cunning.

 

In fairness, that was made when consensus on Johnny boy was he was no longer in the DC universe (He'd been Vertigo-only for over a decade by then). Could be he'd rank highly now that he's back.

 

Smarts aside, Manhattan would turn him into particles before he could say "I'm Batman"

It was speculated a while back this whole thing will come down to Doom vs Thanos in the end, and that still seems likely

 

And I think we all know how that goes down:

OK, I'll go with Doom although I think that match up is very hard to get your hands around.

Doom vs Neo is interesting, but I would give it to Doom.

The other fight isn't even close. Yes Batman is supposed to be the smartest human in DC, but Dr. Manhattan would tear him apart. If Ozymandias couldn't beat him with all his personal knowledge of Manhattan and his years of study there is no way that Batman could even if he had a year to prepare.
