I'm not a gamer, so my vote has to automatically go to Original Flavor Kirk.

 

My Shepard was very much the scrawny sniper sort, only effective from a long way away with strong teammates - by contrast, Kirk fought a Gorn essentially bare-handed. Gotta go with Kirk.

 

At the very beginning of the movie, completely disconnected from literally anything else that happens, they just pan the camera up some staircase while someone mumbles for a long time, and finishes with "all they can do is burn." Which is the aforementioned barbeque part.

 

Damnit, my main shepard was a soldier who could shrug off missiles like light rain. SHEPARD!

 

That was Thanos' lackey, not him.

Depending on your Class Shepard can have super powers. Kirk has taken down via outsmarting god-like entities. But Shepard is not one of those entities. He'd be Kirk with super powers.

But then, does the everythign they have access to come into play? Kirk in that Captain's chair vs Shepard in his boat?

Hand to hand Shepard wins, ship to ship Kirk wins.

 

This is a tough one alright. I wasn't particularly wowed how Shepard's story and journey unfolded...but I've never been crazy about James Tiberius Kirk either.

Still, I found the Mass Effect universe more enjoyable throughout, so my vote goes to Commander John Shepard. After all...

 

Kirk.

I'd have to echo VLM's assessment. Shepard has his abilities from the Spectres, which can't be really counted, but Kirk seems to be able to rip his shirt and outsmart such foes... But I'd say he's still be Kirk with superpowers, so:

Shepard.

 

Oh it's a vidja game guy. My vidja game knowledge is limited to watching my kids play the Lego games...and to my recollection of several stoned nights of Tetris.

 

Having no in depth knowledge of Shepard, I vote for the guy with the cooler name.

You can name your Shepard "James Tiberius" if you so wish, that's the beauty of it.
