    From comingsoon.net:

New Line Cinema will re-release The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, with additional scenes and footage added, just two weeks before the worldwide December 17 release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The plan calls for putting the films on 100-150 screens in the top 10 U.S. markets. Many other U.S. cities will have one cinema participating in the special extended edition screenings. Running times for the extended editions are 208 minutes for "Fellowship of the Ring" and 214 minutes for "The Two Towers."

Advanced ticket sales are scheduled to begin in late September or early October on exhibitor Web sites and movie ticketing sites like Fandango, MovieFone and Movietickets.com.

Starting the week of Dec. 5, the extended DVD cut of "Fellowship of the Ring" will be released in some 100 or so theaters in the U.S. and in 20 theaters in Canada.

Then, the week of Dec. 12, "The Two Towers" will be released, leading up to a worldwide Dec. 16 daylong marathon, during which all three films will be shown back-to-back. The screenings that day will include a 3 p.m. showing of "Fellowship" followed by a 7 p.m. screening of "Two Towers" and then an 11 p.m. screening of "Return of the King," which will carry over into Dec. 17 -- the day of its global release.

    Cini Capri perhaps...?

I don't care HOW pregnant I am then, I'm going too. Just put me in an aisle seat so I can run to the bathroom.

    Second on the Aragorn motion.

Who was it that said at the Episode 1 Lineup that if his wife was going to have the baby that night, they'd wheel the bed and doctor into the theater and have it there, cause he could think of no better place? lol

BTW, I'm so there, I'm already there, pitching my tent. ;)

You know, I am ashamed to say it. I own all the books. Never read them. And I haven't seen the movies. We have like copies of Tolkien lithographs and I've never even read the books.

    (hangs head in shame)

Hum . . . maybe after I finish Wedge's Gamble I'll breakout my LOTR books.

I don't like to see movies before I've read the books.

I don't like to see movies before I've read the books.

I don't either, usually. But this is one case where I enjoyed the movies more than the books. They get to the point, where the books tend to be a bit rambley.

    *hides from Tolkein fans*

[face_laugh] Ok Mara Jade...Yousa point is well seed. I still need an aisle seat though. :D

I've been reading the books...I'm at Helm's Deep which is Chapter 7 in Book three which is the first book of the Two Towers.

Tolkien does get "rambly" but when he shines...oh saint's preserve us...he SHINES.

I too will admit to liking the movies better overall than the book, but there are moments when I'm reading the book and think...THIS IS BLISS.
