    STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ!

    Rally for peace
    5PM Friday 14th Feburary
    State Library, Swanston St, City

    www.vicpeace.org

    I certainly am! :D

to accompany this, i thought i would post a parody that i have been working on that you guys might enjoy.....

To the tune of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" by the Beatles

bin Laden was quizzical, studying terroristical
    Jumbo's in the home
Late nights all alone with a manual
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
George Bush Jr, majoring in stupider
    Calls him on the phone
Can I take you out with an A-bomb
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
But as he's getting ready to go,
A knock comes from the door

Bang Bang Dubya's secret service came down, on his head
Bang Bang Dubya's secret service made sure that he was dead

Back in school again, Saddam plays the fool again,
    Teacher gets annoyed
Trying to avoid an unpleasant scene
She tells Saddam to stay, when the class has gone away
    So he waits behind
Writing 50 times I must not be so
But when she turns her back on the boys
    A sound comes from behind

Bang Bang Dubya's secret service came down, on his head
Bang Bang Dubya's secret service made sure that he was dead

Councilor 31 says we've got a dirty one
    Dubya stands alone
    Painting terroristical pictures
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
Johnny and Tony, screaming from the gallery
    Say he must go free
The U.N. doesn't agree and they tell them so
But as the words are leaving their lips
    A sound comes from behind

Bang Bang Dubya's secret service came down, on their heads
Bang Bang Dubya's secret service made sure that we're all dead.

I wouldn't exactly call this a meet...but yes, in future, organising things that would be considered a somewhat official gathering of FanForce should just be run past LV first, just in case he's got something up his sleeve or it isn't quite suitable for some reason. Generally though, most ideas for meets should be fine, just let our resident CR know first. That's what he's there for, after all. ;)

Yeah, I know, and I'm happy for this thread to stay up, providing it doesn't turn into a political debacle. I probably won't be able to turn up, but you'll have my support for it.

Yeah, I've been tossing over the idea of going since this "Socialist" meet last Thursday at Melbourne Uni, but I don't know if I can be bothered going up "all the way to Melbourne." Besides, what's the weather going to be like tomorrow? I'd rather go to the beach, as inspiring as this march could be - if the predicted 100,000 people actually turn up. R_P is a red neck and will not go, I know, I asked! ;)

What about it Mr PoT? Is a trip up in order, if it's cold and I can be bothered of course!

Well, look, I'd love to go... But I have work and by the time I get to the city (I start at five this arvo in Bourke St) it'll be full of stoned left-wingers with nothing better to do than chant. GET JOBS. (by the way, I kinda actually support this cause, but who the hell is gonna pay attention to 100,000 people in a city in Australia compared to a gun-toting American public happy to blow up Saddam - again.)

Yes you are right RP. War is unavoidable now. No matter what is said and done, the USA is still going to charge in. And also this whining about our troops being at danger! If you don't want to fight for your country then don't join the armed forces. Simple really isn't it!

Is Iraq the first domino to fall?

Then is it North Korea and such like?

Is the USA the foretold antichrist?

All the answer will soon be revealed!

Will someone care to enlighten me about the fabled anti-christ? I find it most interesting.

Yes, when the antichrist comes will it be the invisaged individual or an actual nation?

Remember that the USA is pushing through its policy in the United Nations that no American soldier is to be ever tried for war crimes. If that happens then we are all in trouble. America also refuses to pay its fees to the UN and has not payed for many years. Its policy is that the nation that owes the most money there has the most power!!!

Melbourne, Friday the 14th of Feb:

    250 000 attend rally's in Melbourne.

The World, Sunday the 15th of Feb(across dateline): 10.4 million protesters attend networked rally's world wide, most centred in Europe, Eastern Asia and America. Major protests in Brisbane and Sydney.

People, it is with pleasure, and a great deal of pride considering how much I and the whole HALTwar collective (PM me if you wish to join our webring) have acheived, along with all our affiliated partners who have banned together to create the mriad conglomorate A.N.S.W.E.R.

Ladies and Gentleman, today was the GREATEST protest in HISTORY, in terms of numbers worldwide. For the one cause, to stop War and acheive Peace.

To stop the bloodthirsty and greedy idealogy's of the West usurping the cultural and spiritual tenants of the East.

Bush, Blair and Howard a sycophantic drooling Demons, in a league of Evil, Greed, Hate and anti-pathy for their fellow man.

When black gold, pointless pride: the american's grin all snide, and the sheer arrogance of capitalist centric autocratic Republician models such as Australia, America and to a degree England represent, assume a greater importance to mankind then the empathy for your fellow man, the kinship of culture, history, shared grief, sorrow, joy and innovation...then I say Victoria, I say that day will be one where I cease to be. I will no longer have the will to leave on this forsaken Earth.

We live in a world of such negative emotions. The Dark Side shrouds all, if you will.
And one little Moff is trying to stir it all up, Bush. But he is not the sole heir to the blame. It is a culture of assumed superiority that the West has taken on, it is an arrogant archetype that is REALLY the enemy.

This protest gives me hope: hope that humanity is not dead yet.

But when I look past the "News" (for Australia nor most of the western world is devoid of any "real, unbiased" news these days) and find the facts for myself, look at the information no one else tells you (hence the importance of the HALTWar association) I feel the dour weight of finality drop upon me.

When the innocent Iraqi blood is shed en masse by American bullets (something that has only been a slow, insidious yet omnipresent trickle for the past decade) the rising tide of death, dismay and social decay will roil over all, obscuring everything, and tainting our future forever more.

It MUST be stopped. It is OUR responsibility to do something about it, and for every snide, cynical, stuck-up arrogant grin on every elitist, conservative dimwits face in this country, we as a species our sullied, and another Iraqi child dies.

For every eye that is turned away, for every futile sigh in dismay, for every person who promises to "do something ANOTHER day"; a whole world dies.

It is a vile, wretched and disgusting feeling that envelopes the very sole of humanity now: it is up to we few who care enough about this species to forsake our comfortable cheers, our smug little ties and cups of coffee, to get up and act NOW, if something, ANYTHING is to be done.

I mean it this time Dumpsters: I BLOODY DARE YOU.

War cannot be avoided! Accept it. The USA want war, for the oil, battle experience and National pride!

well, i was glad to have gone, and expressed my views.
    it was an excellent day

War cannot be avoided! Accept it.

Mixo, the day we become silent on things that matter is the day our lives begin to end.

Such fatalism is the only thing that makes this war "unavoidable".

If I may induldge you all, in a poem I wrote over a year ago, that is suddenly sounding rather relevant after Mixo's comments.

    Idealistic Dreaming of a Youth.

Peer above at eternity?s scape, a depth into the night,
Listen to the stars and the dreams they promise, behold the humbling sight.
Young men endeavour to reach the peak, to escape unto the sky,
But are humbled by sneers of laughter, as old men refuse to try.
Imagination?s limitations, keep thine feet on the ground,
Until the whispered dreams are lost, in a frenzied din of sound.
To fight bravely, resist the surge, finds one left behind,
As the tide of ?real? and ?important?, makes your dream a lie.
Life sweeps you up impiously, treats you like swine,
Consider what may be possible, and you commit a crime.
You may feel it unfair, you may be inclined to cry,
But indignation turns to resignation, and all you do is sigh.
To give up and conform, opportunity has slipped by,
For now it is you, an old man laughing, refusing to even try.

Huggard's light promises a different vision. One of Hope, one of empowerment, and one of the ability of one to influence all.

Listen to him, and we shall be rewarded.
