That's a great idea.

It kinda runs in the Skywalker family to go counter to the status quo. It would be interesting to see the dynamic of a former student of Luke, who himself is now a master, that challenges him on fundamental Jedi protocol issues. We got a glimpse of that in TPM with Obi Wan questioning Qui Gon's decision making. Not opposing each other with lightsabers lit. I'm talking about a positive antagonist if you will. Perhaps a person that has a tiny bit of doubt in Luke's authority or someone who's past was affected by the reign of Vader / Anakin and holds a seed of resentment?

Anyhow, nice idea!

 

Perhaps Luke is cast out or this 'Positive Antagonist' is cast out of the Jedi Order by the Council. Have we ever seen a Jedi cast out before? I'm sure the EU have covered this idea in one way or another. I know we've seen the will of the Council deny a seat on the Council, but expulsion, I don't recall.
