There was a Star Wars/America's Cup reference on the back of today's Herald in the 'sideswipe' column.

I'd quote it exactly, but I forgot it was todays and we used it to catch paint while painting the kitchen.

Apparently, someone had made a reference earlier to Dean Barker and his girlfriend Mandy being the Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia of the Gulf, but the bit today said something like 'Star Wars fans have pointed out that Luke and Leia are in fact brother and sister'.

 

LOL, those nerdy SW fans just wouldn't tolerate that kind of mistake.

 

Yeah I remember seeing that one, Kitt. That was the one with Dennis Conner as Jabba if memory serves.

 

my new take on this is that the America's Cup will _never_ end. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will just continue postponing the races forever, until the Swiss just give up in disgust and fly home.

 

I can see a patch of blue sky here so hopefully the waether will clear up soon.

But this was a bit unexpected: Cyanide letter threat to Cup ...
