So you Dra--- are pointing out that the text seems to say that the Sith were founded and fell apart in a matter of weeks. I see that in the text, yet I cant get around the first few lines where is tells us that the Sith was founded 2000 years prior, and then TPM tells us that the Jedi thought the Sith extinct 1000 years prior.

Wouldn't this mean that the Jedi were aware of Bane's survival and the Rule of Two for approx. 1000 years, and THEN they thought they killed both Master and Apprentice 1000 years prior to TPM? This would explain how the Jedi in the film knew about the rule of two in the first place. If they weren't aware of it by the time of the film, they wouldn't have known to mention it....:)

    PS: What makes Ruin canon?

Really? Because that's not how I read it. It doesn't say anything about ruling the galaxy. That info comes from ROTS, actually.

I was just thinking about that painting of the Falcon hovering over a duel today. The scenario that played out in my head was Driver or Andersen dueling Ridley while Han Solo aims his blaster at them, wondering which of his children to shoot. I suppose it's possible that Harrison Ford was meant to be at Puzzlewood but the injury kept him away. So they filmed his part at Pinewood. Just speculation. Unless I missed something in the last couple of days suggesting the painting was fake.

The character is in the TPM novelization. The name isn't canon but fans use it because it's more convenient than typing "the founder of the Sith" every time.
I meant when you combine it with what we're told in AOTC and ROTS.

I believe the character is from Lucas's notes, but Pena came up with the name.

Now I wonder where the old republic fits In this. How is it the Sith were "founded" a millennia ago yet the Sith existed thousands of years prior both as a race and a "cult"? I like to look at it like a mystery where more and more facts come to fruition and when we think we know it all more Information comes out. Like peeling back layers and layers of an onion.

    Yep.

    On Ruin from Wookiepedia:

So created by Lucas; named by Pena.

Who knows if the name will actually be used if the character makes his way into the ST.

They could easily transform Ruin into the Satan/Lucifer character in the SW mythology. The original fallen angel leading a legion of former Jedi against the light....or something.

The TPM novelization made me wonder whether or not that was GL's intention. We're told that Ruin was "the lone dissident in an order of harmonious followers", but we're also told that the Jedi had already existed for 23,000 years (plenty of time for other Jedi to fall to the dark side) when he founded the Sith.

The whole macguffin for whichever new Imperial succeeds Palpatine will be seeking out the location of Luke Skywalker's new hidden Jedi temple somewhere in the reaches of space. It'll be something like the Imperial search for the Rebel base in the OT. The whole purpose is to acquire this new Jedi order and make it side with the Empire instead of the Republic by converting its members to the Dark Side, something the Sith were incapable of doing and in part is what got the Emperor and Vader destroyed.

It may not end up canon, unlike the character. Maybe Darth Internets?
