What did the good guys do that was bad?

Yes, I suspect the old plot of heroes and villains on in both the Alliance and Empire will be a major factor.

Anakin choking people at will within TCW, especially on one occasion in front of Ahsoka.

Unless the Empire and the Alliance now have a common enemy.

Maybe there is now a non-aggression pact between both sides, as a result of years of fighting - attrition comes into play -> Cold War.
This new enemy would at first (Ep 7, maybe also 8) secretly attack the Alliance, making it look like the Empire is behind it, resulting in the Alliance openly attacking the Empire, and the later striking back.
If the new villain has the resources to pull this off, then he can be a real threat. This allows him to sit back and enjoy the show, occasionally throwing more rocks into the water if things become too quiet.

And it would fit Plagueis' way of acting from the shadows, also based on several descriptions of him from this very thread.

the "common enemy" to unite the galaxy would be an interesting plot.

You do know foreshadowing is a thing, right?

Yes, but that is Anakin in moments of anger.

The Jedi, even Anakin, don't deliberately do bad things to get a good result.

Perhaps the shocking reveal and "actor" we'll be so surprised about will be that the cyborg villain is Luke's wife who was thought dead? The actress might be a bigtime actress they've managed to hide from us.

As for a threat that brings Imperials and Rebels, I'm not a fan of that plot. It seems too easy and forces reconciliation without the Imperials necessarily having to forfeit their ideology. Now if the Imperials are already beginning to readopt democratic principles, I don't mind teaming up with them. But it's a poor message to send that sometimes democracy needs totalitarians to survive something supposedly worse.

Except that manipulation of both sides, from the the shadows, is done by Palpatine in the Prequel era.

Not wise to repeat something like that - however, there could indeed be a new threat that forces the Alliance and Empire to work together.

    I highly doubt it.
Either, somehow, Vader is coming back (please, dear God no) and Hayden's name is being kept secret or their is a unknown villain, whose information has not been leaked.

Exactly. "Actor" is ambiguous enough to mean either a man or a woman. Devin doesn't like to spoil people too much, so perhaps he's being coy?

Well, JJ did visit the Downton Abbey set. Maybe Maggie Smith will be a badass Sith Witch.

Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Mace doing a group mind-trick on Cad Bane, which could've destroyed his mind, is another example.

It was dangerous, but not an evil act.

As can be seen, they stopped long before causing any damage.

It's not canon, but it's not unprecedented for a woman Luke thought was dead to come back as a villain and a cyborg.

But why would she be obsessed with Vader. Unless they are doing a half-Mara Jade story, where she actually was Vader's secret apprentice.

There was that long ago rumor that never seemed to go anywhere that a couple of sites agreed to that a unknown actress was being snuck on and off set...or that could have been poodoo, and we don't have anything at all right.

Maybe the overall twist is not the identity of the cyborg but Ridleys character being Lukes daughter and therefore the cyborg being her brother. That would fit the rumours claiming DR meets the cyborg and is all of a sudden in despair mode, because she finds out shes part of the family (Luke telling her finally or the cyborg)?!

    Wait, wait, wait.
A thought just occurred (most likely I'm wrong, but that didn't stop me before [face_mischief]).
In the picture above the woman has blonde hair. The character of "Kira" has black hair in all the other leaked artwork.
So could it be that this woman is actually a different character? Maaaybe Luke's wife? Maaaybe a nod at Mara Jade? Remember that there will apparently be a flashback scene in Ep7.

That's a fine counterexample. They definitely press their probe on his mind for far too long -- it being dangerous is the point. Heroes aren't supposed to act that way. TCW and the PT are full of these gray areas, making Star Wars much more complex than it previously was.

The Anakin example was also good. It doesn't matter if something is foreshadowing or if Anakin was angry, he was a hero at this point in the story yet he often didn't act like one -- ask the Sandpeople and their dead kids.

People on the board would build more credibility if they could, on occasion, concede when they are wrong. I enjoy doing so; truth is more important than our personal biases.

One of the main reasons for the Clones Wars was that Palpatine wanted to drive the Jedi into the darkness of war -- that made them warriors and not heroes. It's obvious innocents were killed as the result of the orders of the Jedi generals, despite their best intentions.

A common enemy that the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic could face together is a revived Mandalorian Empire trying to use the power vacuum of the Galactic Civil War to reestablish itself after centuries. Since the Mandalorian Wars are no longer canon, there is no reason this race cannot be used through a full scale war.

Although the Empire is obviously still the main antagonist in the ST. All it takes it for one of the Emperor's Force sensitive crazy henchmen or minions to take control as an "emergency leader" in the wake of Palpatine's disappearance. After years of Darth Vader and the Emperor missing, his job is simply to find out what happened to them an through his dogmatic Imperial ideology to enact revenge or justice against the one who supposedly killed Vader and the Emperor. That is good enough motivation for me.
