    Okay- a few comments.

    1. Someone above said nothing that Jerry Goldsmith had done really stood out. I have 2 that are most impressive:
    A. "Patton" (should've won an Oscar for this)
    B. "LA Confidential"

    2. The only Ennio Morricone soundtrack I found appealing was "The Untouchables".

    3. I think John Barry deserves a mention ("Somewhere in Time", "Out of Africa")

    4. I really loved "The Insider" soundtrack by Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke. Gerrard, incidentally, worked with Hans Zimmer on "Gladiator".

    Ulpio Minucci, because he did the music to Robotech. I know its not a movie composer, but he is very good.

    Besides John Williams, James Horner. He did with "Aliens", what Williams does to Star Wars: you can "see" the movie thru the music.
