JCC why are transhumanist computer nerds so scary?

Man is this thread freaky. On tranhumanism... I understand trying to prevent disease, heal injuries, extend life. But why would you want to fundamentally alter your mind and body and your entire experience of life? What if you accidentally lose your consciousness and just become a computer program that only seems to others like it is alive? I just don't understand the desire for it, especially with how much can go wrong. Never mind what it would do to a society that believes (at least in principle if not in practice) that we are all equal because we're human. I also think of how these resources being spent on transhumanist-wannabe's selfish delusions instead of doing some real good in this world.

I think it's more of a singularity thing than something necromantic, at least for this thread

 

I think the reason is the How to be a JCCer thread which turned into a history lesson.

 

And Trump is gone and no big SW news expected so people are bored.
