Does anyone know why the rough cut of the cantina scene on the blu-ray extra's is black and white? I am sure they didm film it and add color later. Also all the other deleted scene from the dvd are in color.

sorry if already talked about or the wrong place to ask

That particular version of the cantina scene comes from the earliest assembly of 'The Star Wars', which was edited by John Jympson. The only existing print is in B&W - not sure if that's because it has since degraded and lost all the colour, or if it was cut in B&W to save money (much as TV & films are often edited at a lower resolution to save drive space and run faster).

This is just my opinion, but it may have looked better in b&w (than in color) anyway. Since it was an extremely rough cut & they didn't appear to do a lot to clean it up (or maybe they couldn't clean it up), IMHO if it had been in color it would have looked fairly bad. As it stands, this b&w print doesn't look too horrible...
