Why couldnt vader sense Leia?

When luke was on the ship, he sensed Vader, as well as Vader sensed him, and Luke could sense Leia when he was injured after the battle with Vader on ESB, so emaning that all the members can sense each other. But why couldn't Leia sense Vader or why Vader couldnt sense Leia?

 

This question sounds familiar... I think it came up in one of the Leia sensing Padmé threads. Leia was more in tune with her mother through the force than with her father, which is why she could remember her REAL mother while Luke couldn't.

Also, after Luke destroyed the first Death Star, the name Skywalker must've caught Vader's attention at some point before ESB, but he didn't know about the twin sister until he sensed it in Luke's mind during the final battle on DS2.

Why would Vader sense Leia if she hadn?t awoken her powers yet? Leia?s powers were dormant. Did she know how to use telekinesis or telepathy?

Luke?s powers were more in tune when he sensed Vader. He could already tap into his powers at this point. Besides at this point both Vader and Luke?s powers were pretty much as high as they will ever be.

The same thing with 9-year-old Anakin. He hadn?t awoken his powers when he first met Qui-gon. Was he moving thing with his mind? Reading minds? So there is no reason for either Qui-gon or Anakin to sense each other. 19-year-old Anakin could sense that Zam was a ?She? because his powers were longer dormant.

 

Leia hadn't developed her Force powers like Luke. Although Vader remarks that "her resistance to the mind probe is considerable".

 

Also there are tons of Force sensatives in the galaxy which is never really a problem with anyone considering they don't know how to use their powers. They may have an unusual degree of good luck here and there but they don't know why they are special. Vader probably sensed Leia was sensitive to the Force but it didn't matter since she didn't know how to use it.

 

You can only sense if somebody is USING the Force. If Leia had used it Vader would've sensed her for sure.

 

It's kind of Like the Highlander TV series-they could only sense each other once they'd become immortal and had powers, not before.

 

My opinion, I think you have to be attuned to the force yourself first. Leia isn't yet.
