If you have been given responsibility over something and you fail, then you have to take responsibility, either by continuing and fixing the problem or by resigning. But if you don't take the responsibility you have been given, then you definitely need to resign! And that is the problem with resignations, because we don't know if a person resigned because he took responsibility or because he didn't take responsibility. And that's the problem with responsibility; it can be used for anything! It's the ketchup of ethics.
