PT Why did they fire on the Invisible Hand?

In ROTS a Ventor fires on the Invisable Hand while two Jedi and the Chancellor are still on board. Why would they do that.

 

Plot Convenience.

 

The Destroyer didn't know that Anakin and Obi-wan made it aboard. They were aware that the Chancellor might have been aboard, but they weren't intending to do so much damage that resulted in the ship being ripped apart. Just enough to prevent it from going to Lightspeed.

 

Did they even know that? In the middle of a battle, firing at an enemy ship should be common and expected... Anyway, it was a nice sequence:

 

The point was to cripple the vessel so Grievous couldn't jump to light-speed and escape with the Chancellor.

 

Then clones have bad aim.

 

They traded fire and the Republic cruiser didn't break apart...

So how is it their fault that the CIS built such a crappy flagship?

 

Because it was invisible.

 

More like a horribly lucky shot. Didn't they hit a weapons battery on the IH that cascaded to knock the ship out of its orbit? I may be misremembering that though.

 

I would feel sorry for the poor clone trooper that realized he took shot on the chancellor by accident.

 

I just love it that the Sep flagship got its butt whooped by a run-of-the-mill Star Destroyer. Seriously, its like the Bismarck losing to some random PT boat

No Sideous was obviously a clone of Palpatine.

Would have been worse if it was some random starfighter taking out the flagship...

If Clones had bad aim, what those Storm Troppers have?

 

Amazing perfect aim.

Convenient aim.

 

It created a beautiful scene. Also, when you see an enemy, your normal instinct is to shoot, not to think about possible passengers.

 

And, it helps when you don't get the memo that there's a rescue going on.

 

Well I would think the mission would be well known to the fleet. As it was their main mission.
