    1. Because it's not meant for him anymore; it belongs to Rey now. Disney marketing even says so on their website! ;)
    2. Did ya notice how utterly devastated/traumatized Luke looks in that last scene of the movie? It's pretty likely that it's going to take some convincing on everyone's part to get Luke back into the game again.
