Why Didn't Palpatines Lightning "Melt" Luke's Face?

ANAKIN is the Chosen One!!! Luke is the Force's way of getting Destiny back on track.

Palpy's face melted because he was both giving AND getting the lightning.

 

palps face melted because he wanted it to.
becuase he wanted to appear more injured before anakin to make him turn, hence he reveals his true form

 

That'd make me even LESS likely to become a Sith. I mean, if it makes you look like that...

This is pretty different from the Luke situation. Palpatine is getting fried by his own lightning. Think about that. He's expending twice the energy, sending out dark force lightning and getting hit with it in the face. That's going to wear you down.

I can accept the fact that his face melts down, but what really bothers me is how it deflects off of Mace's lightsaber. In AOTC, Obi-Wan absorbs Dooku's lightning and it basically evaporates. I hope they explain this in a documentary when the DVD is released.

 

Different Sith, different lightning. No two Sith do it the exact same way.
