Why didn't the stormtroopers notice Luke was too short?

OMG THEY AREN'T T3H CLONEZ?!?!?! WTF

Luke wasn't too much shorter. Leia was just trying to hide what she thought was going to happen by that joke. She expected that the stormtrooper would simply take out his gun and shoot her then and there.

The stormtroopers were probably like the SS - in fact ironically they are both regarded as "stormtroopers." They had very strict physical requirements, which were almost laughable.

 

As stated in earlier posts, Chewie was likely far too much a distraction to keep various Imperials from noticing the slightly shorter than usual Stormtrooper escorting a captive Wookie around the Death Star. And yes, Leia was being a smart-ass with the "..a little short.." remark. But when it right comes down to it, Stormtroopers (and most other Imperials for that matter) don't appear to be all that bright in the first place. In fact, they're not that much quicker on the draw then battle droids. I always thought that this may tie in with what is mostly an EU device of Palpatine/Sidious controlling the Imperial troops on some subconcious level thru the Force. Much in the way that PT battle droids were controlled en masse by the Trade Federation/Separatists. Some SW novels, if I remember correctly, state that the Emperor controlled the minds of his troops and minions (at least on some level) and when Vader killed Palpatine in ROTJ, the tide of the Endor battles on the ground, in the air and even on the Death Star turned toward the Rebels. Toward the end it seems that the Imperial troops are just running around mindlessly, either trying to escape the crumbling Death Star or getting their butts handed to them by a bunch of Ewoks. I figure that since the Empire is under the direct control-in more ways than one-of the Emperor, the normal thought processes of the Imperial troops (especially stormtroopers) may very well be a bit dulled. Stormtroopers/Clone Troopers may think more independantly then droids, especially in battle situations, but the sheer power of the Emperor's mind control probably puts them in a bit of a trance-like state to keep them loyal and subservient. Little details like trooper height aren't something that would be picked up on right away.

Anyway, I've rambled on far too long and probably too off subject for this thread. But I think my little tangent explains the "short for a stormtrooper" issue.

DO you think Yoda was thinking Luke would be really really short if he ever became 900 years, considering Luke's height as a 20-year old? I mean, people tend to shrink in terms of size after they hit 60 or so... Luke would've been really short

 

I believe that Imperial propaganda portrayed the stormtroopers as tall standing figures(literatlly and figuratively) so she would naturally suspect troopers to be tall. Its like how we precieve people in the Armed Services to be big macho tough guys.

 

You gotta love how Luke is checking out his sister in that scene. Also his Scooby-Dooesque "HuH???" after Leia made the comment. CLASSIC!!!!

 

By now,its been 20 years or so of ruling the galaxy. There are imperial training centers spread throughout the galaxy and most remote planets they conquer they make use of the people by turning them into Imperial employees.

Stormtroopers aren't even really cloned by then I think,the clones have probably all died out and Jango is gone.

Bobba's probably not up for some cloning. And the storm troopers all sound kinda different.

And like someone else said,Leia was just being a smart ass. Kinda like showing even though they drug her and torture her,her rebellion fire still remains.
