    Personally (and I'm sure you'd agree :p ) I think we got all the backstory we need. Not everything has to put on screen (though I know that some people would like to think so).

    With the exception of Qui-Gon Jinn (who was a Jedi Master but not on the Jedi Council) and Ki-Adi-Mundi (who was a Jedi Knight and on the Jedi Council) (in Episode 1 anyways), oh and the exception of Anakin Skywalker in Episode 3 (who is a Jedi Knight on the Jedi Council) remember....

    Jedi can be Masters without being on the Council.
