For those who are familiar with the EU/Canon power of Vader in the force, we've seen he is one of the most powerful telekinetic users in Star Wars. But in your opinion why didn't Vader use the forces especially when as lightsaber duelists he didn't really have an advantage? Do you think it was to limitations of the technology of the time, or do you have your own personal theories about it? Do you think Vader could've easily killed Luke with telekinesis?

No, I don't. First I don't buy that potential equals Power. Secondly it would've killed the narrative and the character arcs of father and son.

Cushing's Admirer said it best. It would have been a cheap way out. Vader didn't quite know what he wanted as he was fighting Luke until after it was over.

one: He is Luke's father and he didn't believe in killing Luke off hand. In the books he felt he was redirecting Luke's emotions as they attempted to turn Luke to the dark side.
2: it would've killed the whole father/son theory. No father can kill their kid in cold blood just because.
