Why do you blame this poor Gungan for?

    Jar Jar shouldn't blame himself for anything. The Republic NEEDED the army, because either way the Seperatists were about to attack. The entire Jedi Order wouldn't have been able to stop them on their own. And if it weren't Jar Jar that was manipulated, it would have been someone else. Bail, Ask-Aak (sp?), or someone else who knew what was going on.

    I can understand placing some of the blame on Jar Jar. What I don't understand the vitriol that comes from it. I mean, yes, Jar Jar giving Palpatine emergency powers was a mistake, but it was only a matter of time until another politician was talked into it. It's not as if Jar Jar himself is responsible for Palpatine's destructive, heinous actions that came to follow.

    Not to mention that Palpatine wouldn't have even been in a position of power had it not been for Ambidala voting Valorum out of office.
