Its seems wierd he says its freezing and then we see that Tatooine has 2 suns.

I know desserts can get extremely cold but it was during the day.

Maybe you're confused with C-3PO's line: "my joints are almost frozen" ?

Hmmmmm the only place I remember Luke saying he was cold was in ESB on Dagobah

EDIT: What C3PO meant by his joints were almost frozen, is it's a machinist's term. Where two metal joints which are usually lubed, has lost its lubrication and is about to rub each other metal to metal until they stop moving due to friction. Hope that helps

His joints are almost frozen as in...

...frozen 'stiff' from the sand and grit that has accumulated in his joints.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha! C-3PO says his joints are frozen because he's been walking for so long and so now he won't be able to walk much longer. Does that help?

What I don't understand is why Luke was so cold on the planet Hoth.

Why didn't he just use that blanket of snow...

...and those sheets of ice? :p

It's like saying your computer is frozen. That doesn't literally mean that it's so cold there's ice in your CPU, but that it's stopped functioning. It's still.

Take it from someone living in AZ... in the winter time in the morning when it is bright... it can be downright cold. Same with the evening.

Remember - it's water in the air that keeps temperatures higher when the sun is down. Deserts lack that fine stuff.
