R2 knows what he's doing. He saves 3PO later, but Padme needed saving that instant. Always wants to be the hero.

Not to mention a screen hog. I know we've all seen how he and Richard are in a law-suit. Richard hasn't even shot a movie with him.

I'm not surprised he tried to get 3-PO out of the way. Of course, little did R2 know 3-PO always uses a stunt double.

 

Yes. R2D2 is suffering from dellusions of Ego and the grandeur thereoff, as we shrinks like to call it.

It´s been noticed that more and more often Droids tend to believe they are like humans. What a preposterous notion, the droids think they are like their creator. We shall learn them.

It should be noted though, that theories on the holonet, suggest that R2D2 is in fact an undercover droid, with orders to eliminate those droids with any kind of mind, which is why I don´t personally believe in said theory, I mean look at C3PO, does he look like he has any mind?

Maybe it is just a malfunction, a shortcircuit or something. S´pose we shall never know. Alas the burden of shrinks....
