Why haven't you seen the Star Wars Holiday Special?

I mean yes it's cheesy and sometimes hard to stomach, but there's good stuff too:

Original footage of the original cast. Like Han and Chewie in the Faclon.

The Boba Fett cartoon.

The nostalga if you saw it the first time around.

See Walrus Man (Ponda Baba) get down in the Cantina.

See Snaggletooth loiter uncomfotably in the Cantina.

Etc Etc...


( Yes, I have a copy and no, I don't know where you can find one. )

 

I have seen it, and it's nice to see Mark Hamill get in touch with his feminin side. Who knew putting on so much makeup could be so much fun?

I'll need to try it sometime.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is the worst two-hours on TV ever.

Only one word and one word alone can describe what you need after seeing it...

It is the worst George Lucas project. More aweful than Howard the Duck.

George Lucas himself said that he wished that he had a hammer so that he could destroy every copy that exists.

Harsh words from the man who created the saga / franchise.

The SWHS is one of the worst pieces of TV programming I've ever seen, but I'd rather watch it again than an episode of BUFFY or FRIENDS.

 

I've seen it. In fact I came to one Star Wars meeting mostly because I wanted to see the Holiday Special, which could be seen there.

The musical parts are boring and tedious and the HS is as bad as all the people say. But I wanted to see myself, how bad it really is.

There is one really good part in the HS; that cooking "female" with four arms. That scene is real camp humor, I love it.
The cartoon is quite good, also.

EDIT: This didn't really answer the question of the thread... A little off-topic.

 

Besides having numerous people tell me that I'd be making the mistake of my adolescent life by seeing it - my modem is just too slow to download the whole thing off of KaZzA. So until I can get DSL again it's slim chance to none that I'll ever see it; which by the evidence shown here by you all, isn't such a bad thing I guess.

 

Try a certain online auction site if you really want to find it.

 

I was actually tempted to buy it. It was selling at a Con I went to. But hearing how bad it was I really didn't want to spent 25 bucks on it.

A friend of mine bought me a copy, just because I wanted to see how bad it really was. It was about 10 times worse.

Like someone said above me, the only part I laughed at was the cook with the numerous arms. That made me giggle. The rest was just...far too painful.

 

Does anyone know how the rating on the special did? I am sure cause it was Star Wars it got some good numbers. But it never re-aired. Even if its bad, I thought they would re-air it if the first showing got good ratings. Was it slammed back then after it aired? I have it on video and believe me, no one call tell someone else how bad it is. (15min of Wookies talking with no idea what they are saying!)
So anyone know how the rating for it did?

 

The Star Wars Holiday Special, should not be watched if you operate heavy machinery, if you are pregnant or if your have trouble sleeping.

It has been know to promote vomiting and sudden uncontrolable bowel movement.

In labratory animals it has been known to cause cancer and / or the detachment of the retna.

Young boys have been known to have hair grow in the palm of their hands and it has been know to send young girls to the nunnery.

Chinesse prison camps briefly experimented with using is as a torture device. The prisoners actually wnated to die and the technique was soon discarded.

 

You can download a low=quality version off of blueharvest.com. Frankly, I couldn't watch the whole thing, I just watched the Boba cartoon which was pretty cool.
