Why is it no one else notices these things?

May be because I'm too geeky for my own good...

1. The new GM commercial touts its search for the best in technology to put into its american built cars, all while showing a rocket majestically soaring for the stars.

A Russian rocket.

Which is pretty low tech in comparison to our stuff.

Of course, they can't use our shuttle as an example because that high tech marvel is still GROUNDED. Maybe they are looking for reliability...



2. Our company has a division which leases out wideband communication channels on satellites. It's name: Skynet.

Helllloooooo... does no one in our marketing dept watch any Sci Fi? Cyberdyne ring a bell? The TERMINATOR? The end of society as we know it was brought about by a bunch of networked computers called the Skynet system? I used to wear a shiny Cyberdyne Industries badge I got from Universal Studios attached to my work ID, no one ever understood that.


Don't know what those marketing folks are thinking, I guess they figured no one would notice or flatly didn't care. "Hey it sounds/looks good, let's use it!"

I noticed, and they are soooo busted.
