Why is Owen Lars dressed like a Jedi?

    In ANH Owen wears robes similar to those of the Jedi Knights. I'm not saying Owen was a Jedi but i think it was a crappy decision on the part of Lucas and the wardrobe people for the Prequels to have most of the Jedi wear robes like his. Owen and Old Ben wear those robes because it's what people wear on Tatooine. They should have come up with a better look for the Prequel Jedi.

    I think the prequel jedi robes look good and reflect their simplicity . I don't see any problems with Owen , a simple farmer wearing similar clothing.

    exactly, jedi robes are unadorned and hooded. many simple people wear similar garments throughout the galaxy...including jawas! oooooteeeeny!

    I think it's because the Jedi style robes are suggestive of homespun simplicity. And yes, clothes like that seem to crop up a lot on Tatooine: Luke wears a tunic very much like Obi-Wans in ANH.

    I agree, the Jedi robes act as a sign of humility to the galaxy at large.
