ST Why isn't Disney allowing critics to screen TFA early? Is this a bad sign?

After spending $4b on Lucasfilm & Lucas selling to Disney because he trusted them to handle the franchise the irony on what they have actually made is not lost on me

Sad but true. Even if the movie is amazingly good, the number of similarities is striking. I don't think the film will be structured like ANH though, just a few similar themes.

I just can't believe Yoda went out like a punk in ROTJ, I mean one minute the dude is kicking ass and taking names and the next minute he dies like a ***** by falling asleep?

    I CAN"T LIVE ANYMOREZZZZzzzz! !1111ONE!

I refuse to watch the Sequel Trilogy until they retcon his death and reinstate the most powerful little green ninja-Jedi, oh and he should have a love scene with Yaddle in TFA.

It seems like people ITT don't actually know that they are in fact screening this for the press on Tuesday.

Indeed, one could argue that the reason why TFA looks so good is because it's so similar to ANH.

I don't necessarily think that argument would hold water.

According to JJ, TFA is in part about history repeating itself. That may obviate any "rehash" complaints.

One thing I do hope they reuse from the ANH structure is how a lot of the first act is almost silent and driven by images and music. I think some of Rey's scavenging might be done in that way.

I also hope the movie plays well enough to where it would sort of work with just music...I think the others are like that in many ways. The music and sounds of the SW movies are just as amazing as the images. There is really nothing else quite like the way the series looks and sounds.

That's actually why I had such a difficult time getting into the EU. Star Wars is a distinctly cinematic experience for me, and it loses something without the story being told through moving images and emotions created through music.

Yes! Give us a 3 or 4 minute look at Rey's average life.

I think the single most important ingredient in a Star Wars movie is the John Williams music.

They want to keep as much mystery as they can, they don't want to make this feel like a movie, they want it to be an event. They don't want people reading about it from those entitled to see it first, they want people to feel like they are a part of the first screening, they are a part of a movement. That feeling alone will get some people who normally wouldn't do repeat showings to do. In no way does Disney feel they have a disaster, they'd have pushed the release date and ordered second unit photography. Disney has "once a year star wars movies indefinitely" riding on the reception of this film.

Totally. He MAKES Star Wars for me. Imagine any of the movies without his score!
