A lot of people are asking why Dooku didn't out Palpatine before his decapitation. Why didn't he just yell "Palpatine is the sith lord", or say "But Master why ?" while looking at Palpatine.

He was in pure shock. Also, he was going to beg for his life (i.e. "You promised me amnesty!). However, Christopher Lee thought it would be out of character for Darth Tyranus to beg for his life, and Lucas wound up agreeing with him. Good call.

He was in shock. He served his master faithfully by creating the Clone Army, forming the CIS, starting the Clone war, and perpetuating the war. Dooku was probably speechless when his own master ordered his execution.

Dooku already made lots of mistakes until the RotS duel, captured many times, made some mistakes in the war etc. He isn't surprised to see his master's decision especially after losing a duel.

Do we know for sure that Dooku knows that Palpatine and Sidious are the same person?

Perhaps in a future episode of Rebels they'll come across a holo-recording of Dooku telling his side of the clone wars, to be used as a form of revenge should Palpatine dispose of him. I think the idea of a Dead Sith Lord guiding the rebellion to secret bases and resources would be a pretty cool storyline.

In the novelisation of ROTS, I liked how Dooku's demeanor leading up to and during the duel was one of such supreme arrogance and self-confidence, that his being lost for words in those last few moments is a result of him being so utterly incensed and baffled at his defeat. In the film, as he takes a deep breath just before Anakin decapitates him, I always assumed he was about to out Palps as opposed to just gasping in terror.

He knows that he is doomed either way, Sidious will never forgive his defeat and if he talks Sidious would try to kill him.

If Sidious did that, wouldn't that expose him too early to Anakin?

    That would be awesome actually!

A little side-note in the thread, but the picture in the original post - isn't that just a lovely shot? The composition (though cropped), the colours, the symbolism of the red and blue lightsaber. Not to mention of course, Dooku's extremely expressive eyes. It's so sad sir Christopher isn't with us anymore.

You think that Anakin would believe Dooku?

Probably not. I'm just curious why Dooku didn't say anything.

    He did, as noted.

PALPATINE: "Kill him. Kill him, now."

    DOOKU: "You promised me immunity."

    PALPATINE: "I lied."

Lee asked for the line to be cut and Lucas obliged. Lee felt it would be more dignifying if Dooku said nothing after realizing Palpatine's betrayal.

    "Because he has some integrity."

You are speaking of honor among thieves.

You don't take someone who knowingly aided in the overthrow of a democratic government, and treat his silence about his conspiractors are something to be praised.

Declaring integrity has nothing to do with supporting the moral principles (or lack thereof) of someone. He's a Sith Lord that believes in the Sith cause. By not revealing the truth, he's showing integrity in his beliefs.

Why do I even bother posting in PT when you can articulate seemingly all my ideas better than I can? :p

I believe Lee's facial expressions says it all. I think the silence is even more powerful and ambiguous.

Yeah well "I hate you" was not the most eloquent conversation starter.
If SW was R-rated, he would have shouted something else ;)
