Why isn't Natalie Portman coming?

I haven't seen her on any of the guest lists. Is she for sure not coming?

 

I don't know. Would a steak like to be thrown into a den full of hungry lions?

Pardon the uneasy analogy, but that's EXACTLY what would happen. She'd be mobbed by drooling fanboys all weekend. It'll be bad enough for Carrie Fisher, to say nothing for the new Star Wars "it" girl.

If you've ever been to a sci-fi convention, you'll understand completely why folks like Natalie and Ewan wouldn't feel the need to come.

Personally, I don't feel insulted by it at all. Of course, I'd like to see them some day. But if they are uncomfortable coming to one of these things I can completely understand and respect that. But that's just me.

 

I believe she's still going to college. And I assume her curriculum is pretty challenging. I think its best for her to concentrate on her classes and not make public appearances.

 

Plain and simple....we scare her.

We scare Ewan, too.

 

She would be mobbed if she came... Better she stayed in school than be overwhelmed by people at celebration.

 

I hope that her being scared of us isn't true because I think most Star Wars fans are pretty civilized and not psychotic stalking fanboys/girls.
Noone would be more delighted than me if she showed up, since I've been a big fan of her work since The Professional, but I think the only reason for her not to show up is because of school.

It might not be that we scare her as much as it is she wouldn't feel safe. Think about it, for three or four days she wouldn't be able to go anywhere without a team of security guards. Not out to eat, not to the mall, hell, not even to the bathroom.

 

We scare her.

 

We? LOL, personally I could care less if she came

 

1. She's busy going to college (an Ivy League school). I know a lot of colleges have finals the week before or after C2.
2. Let's see... the majority of Star Wars fans are male. Do I really need to say any more?

It's different than with Carrie Fisher. Carrie isn't the same as back in 77-83. She's a lot older now (in her 40s), and doesn't look the same.

I wish Portman would go to the Celebration, but I completely understand why she'd be a little afraid.

 

I'm leaving school for the weekend, why can't she?

She won?t be there do to the fact that the majority of the fan base is Male. If she does show she will have 5 or 6 body grads that have no neck.

 

I'm sure she has her reasons although I would like to see her. I couldn't imagine being a star of that calibur. No private time, someone is always watching but that is what they signed up for.

 

No one has said either way if she is coming or not. "You assume to much," as the Queen would say.

TF.N posted an article stating that she will not be doing any interviews for the movie do to finals at Harvard. So, I suspect that would be the reason for the no show at the Celebration. Hey! I have college finals that week too and I'm coming......OK, resort back to the drool theory...

 

That's going to be a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

 

Oh well, there will be many great Pics of Portman there. I guess that will have to do.

I'm pretty sure she has some college stuff to do, since it is the beginning of May and most colleges are starting to drift towards finals.

However, in reponse to the comment regarding crazy fanboys, you think Hayden won't be mobbed? Dozens of non-Star Wars fans have purchased Friday passes only to come watch Hayden. I fear the fangirls. Or teenyboppers. Whatever.
