Lit Why Lothal?

Hera remarks it might be because they were meant to meet Ezra. While the Force is certainly at work here; do you think Lothal will be important in the finale? Was the Ghost Crew meant to do something with Lothal.

 

They alluded to the truth very early in the series when the rebels blew up a ship containing a massive kyber crystal.

Lothal is a world with abundant kyber crystals and thus is a key part of the Empire's creation of the Death Star. It, Jedha, and Ilum were thus strip mined to provide the raw materials for both.

Lothal was also obscure enough and populated enough to be useful for industrialization in other ways too.
