He is a very awesome VA but never worked with Star Wars again in any game or cartoon show.
It's a good question. He doesn't even have to do Luke; he's very versatile. I guess it's just because there's never been any major Star Wars game to star Luke in a major role (that I know of), and I supposed they wouldn't want to bring him on if he wasn't doing Luke.
So that's all? I mean he could do more in cartoon and games like many famous VA did, such as Jennifer Hale.
Actually he did Voice Luke the singing Jedi in the Simpsons
He probably didn't want his career to become even more defined by Star Wars.
I've no idea why he wasn't in either Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. Or the Dark Empire audio dramas, for that matter. Billy Dee did both.
In complete seriousness, Mark Hamill is to VA what Harrison Ford is to A. He may just not have had the time when JA et al were in production.
Probably doing Wing Commander, Spider-Man, BTAS etc.
I imagine it's
He did Luke in all three radio dramas.
Nope, just ANH and TESB. RotJ was Hamill free, unfortunately.
Anyway, I was half hoping he'd replace Abercrombie as Palpatine. That would have been amazing.
Do we know if LucasArts even asked him?
he has done Luke Skywalker in a couple of Robot Chicken episodes, but that is it AFAIK (mostly done by someone else)
Apparently he was never asked.
It is a bit odd, but he probably wasn't interested.
We don't know if he would have been interested or not but my understanding is that he was glad to be the VA of the joker in a batman cartoon, why should he refuse to be the voice of a SW character? That doesn't make sens to me. Maybe Lucasfilm thought he was too much of an iconic SW character to voice a lesser one in a cartoon such as TCW for instance. It's not like Anthony Daniel who took back his C3PO character as he always did.
Because he was better as the Joker.
He could play a great old Joker if there is a Batman Beyond movie.
He did, and it was pretty much the greatest thing ever.
I mean real action movie, let him play the Joker rather than just do the voice.
That wasn't my point. I know he likes playing the joker (he said it more than once in interviews) but the SW universe is dear to him and I have no doubt that if Lucasfilm proposed to an available Mark Hamill to voice a character in an animated show he would've say yes. But I would be surprised that LF ever did so for the reasons stated above.
Here freakin here! If you haven't seen this movie stop reading this sentence and go watch it now. Original version. Dunno which version is kicking around nowadays.
I dunno, but I've always had the feeling that Lucas forbidding them to kill Luke and Lucasfilm not using Mark Hamill smelled the same. I think they were saved for the case GL's original plans about the ST would come true after all.
Pretty sure the original version is the only available in most places unless you're watching the edited for television version.
