Interestingly, I once read that Chewie is small for a Wookie. Can't remember where I read it.

 

Chewie's Bowcaster is adjustable and has many power settings, the 'draw' generates the power and it seems Chewie decided to put the Bowcaster to the max!

 

Because people always liked Chewbaccas bow caster. The gun is almost as famous as he is.

I said it was my estimate, professor. I didn't make up any facts. My estimate was that Chewie falls somewhere between a human and a gorilla on the muscle density spectrum, so I applied about a 1.5 factor on what I thought a human that tall would weigh. Yao Ming weighs 311 lbs. Also, you realize "muscle density" is not the same thing as body fat percentage. Do you know some tigers weigh 800 lbs? It's primarily because their muscle tissue is way more dense than ours is. It's why tigers, bears, and gorillas could slap a human's head right off his shoulders, or why a tiny chimp wearing a diaper could literally eviscerate a full grown adult human.. ...similar to the idea of ripping someone's arms out of the socket.

I might be really late, but I think it was a gag about how it was never used in the OT. The only time Chewie ever fired it was at a mynok in TESB, other than that he used stormertrooper rifles and whatever he could find really. This is also I think why they made it a plot point that it was such a surprise for Han to see how strong it was.

 

His bowcaster was highlighted as bad ass for one reason only. The damage it did to Ren was significant enough to render him wounded enough to allow him to be beaten by Rey.

 

Didn't he shoot a stormtrooper in one scene and it shattered his armor?
