ST Why was the map piece not detailed enough to find Luke?

    The map piece that they said wasn't specific enough to find Luke, actually looked quite detailed. I saw hundreds of planets mapped inside. Have they not mapped their own galaxy entirely yet? At the end when that piece was fit into the bigger picture, it looked like it was at least 5% of the whole galaxy.

    because it wasn't time to find him for story telling purposes. The only reason I can think of.

    What is crazy is the so called main storyline for this movie wasn't even thought out. Its like they just came up with this map idea last minute.
