Rachel Maddow, at least, spent the first 15 minutes of her show covering it.

Can't imagine why they would sound biased. [face_whistling]

    Oh gee. How shocking.

Any mention of how senate.gov sites were inaccessible for large chucks of time this afternoon? :p

So the numbers so far: 13 Congressman dropping off
4.5 Million signatures on the google petition
    2.4 Million Tweets mentioning SOPA
Close to 7,000 sites that protested in some way today. Though I imagine this number will be the hardest to verify when the dust settles.

I'd say that's a pretty good achievement for 24 hours.

On our TV news last night they had a recap on the story and referred to Wikipedia as an "Internet Search Engine".

    Quality journalism all round.

If nothing else, it proves that people who don't understand these things are probably NOT the people you want legislating this content.

Not shocking, just a smidge disappointing that there was barely a pretense of objectivity. And yes, they admitted their parent company supported the bill, but news organizations often cover topics they have a stake in without completely sacrificing their integrity. Well, sometimes. Once in a while.

Marcus' workaround on page 1 is even better than using the cache.

All in all, it looks like SOPA and PIPA lost around 13 supporters, but the opposition gained (on top of those that changed sides) an additional 32 opponents.
Going into today according to ProPublica, SOPA/PIPA had, I think, 79 supporters to 31 opponents. There are now 66 supporters to 72 opponents.

You seem to think Wikipedia was out to screw with you. They weren't. The fact that they left a way to get unto articles, doesn't invalidate their protest, nor does it make it a "failed protest".

You don't seem to be thinking about this, or what this means to do. >_>

And, it's not like wikipedia is the only site to be part of a blackout. Those perspective bills have fair more implication of what could come, as far as affecting what we've grown accustomed to. Maybe they need to spend a little more time moniering things like hate sites, and terrorist sites, etc. I really don't see why they're spending taxpayer's money on crap like this, let alone trying to push it so quickly when we have Iran to bomb, and oil to steal. :p

Both bills now seem to be on indefinite hold, to be modified so they're more acceptable, but they're not dead.
