Will Ahsoka find out about Anakin and Padme?

For Ahsoka-Anakin shippers: wouldn't that be
a)child molestation
b)technically rape
c)abuse of his position as her teacher

Um, I'm not sure of the Republic's age of legal consent or whether it varies from species to species (as I imagine sexual maturity would differ), so I wouldn't call it statutory rape or molestation, at least not yet. Abuse of position... sure probably.

 

...except she's not a woman. She's a teenage girl.

 

Maybe Ahsoka grew up on a planet really close to its sun so, even though she's a teenager by our standards, she's really hundreds of years old.

But....yeah, you're right.

But maybe we're being too ethnocentric here. Sure, most American men are terrified of even being alone with a minor for two seconds for fear of false accusations, never mind journeying with them on long voyages with only each other for companionship. But maybe the Star Wars universe is like the U.S. was sixty years ago, where teenagers were regularly wed to men in their twenties.

 

As an American man who works with children allow me to say that a good rule of thumb is to never be alone with a child, just to protect yourself. If you're never alone, no accusations could be made. Never put yourself in a position where someone could lie and suggest you did something wrong. It does sound a bit cynical, but that's the world we live in these days.

But being the show that it is, I'm sure there will be no sexual tension (or anything else for that matter) between Anakin and Ahsoka, and as someone stated earlier, it was made clear by Filoni in an Insider interview that won't be the case.

 

That's really sad to hear, boletus. I didn't realize the situation was that bad in the US...

But regarding the show, no sexual undertones whatsoever between Anakin and Ahsoka, not from where I'm standing.

 

Filoni's protecting himself legally. Of course he's putting sexual tension between Anakin and Ahsoka in there. Their entire relationship is playing like a B-movie ripoff of 'It Happened One Night' or 'Adam's Rib': the witty rapport, the secret little glances, the sexual tension transferred to cute little quarrels.... There's no question that Filoni & Co. are consciously adding romantic tension there, no matter what they claim.

Really quickly: As far as working with children, a kindergarten teacher here in a Detroit suburb was falsely accused of abuse. But the prosecutor was desperate for evidence (he had a whole bunch of child abuse cases that were crumbling around him), so he had the police claim that the teacher's copes of 'Star Wars', 'The Lion King', and 'The Wizard of Oz' were "non-erotic pornography". (If you're interested, Google "James Perry" and "David Gorcyca". It was a hilariously nightmarish legal fiasco.)

 

...whatever happened to just stating your opinion? Do you feel you must always make it clear that your view is obvioulsy the right one and there's no room for discussion and different views? This is a discussion forum, not a fact-stating forum. Just tone it down a notch...

You're right that that's just my perception of things, and it's possible that I'm wrong.

But, I mean, the two gave each other pet names for God's sake, they constantly banter back and forth, there's an intimate rapport between the two of them....

To me, their whole relationship is clearly an attempt to copy the repressed-romantic bickering of the screwball comedies of the 30's, 40's, an 50's.

Sure, Filoni has his "plausible deniability". But let's be real here, ya know? It's about 99% certain that they've consciously created a romantic tension so the characters can be romantic proxies for the 10- to 15-year-old audience.

 

True, but keep in mind - Anakin grew up with Obi-Wan, and never told HIM...

True but in some ways Anakin is much closer to Ashoka than he is to Obi giving room for him to form Attachment to her. If Snips finds out about the marriege & keeps it (I think she will) it'll make that attachment much stonger. I think somewhere down the road Anakin gave up trying to form a much closer bond with Obi beyond Jedi brotherhood.

 

I agree. The minds behind CW are actively trying to undo the Anakin and Obi-Wan bond and replace it with Anakin and Ahsoka. (I wonder if they'll insert Ahsoka into the end of ROTJ?)

So, while Obi-Wan could only offer Padme a tragic and somber "I'm so sorry" about her tragically doomed romance, Ahsoka will be able to give the fans oodles of gossip and quasi-romantic chatter. It'll be like 'All My Children' or some other daytime soap. (And, again, I theorize that the Anakin and Ahsoka relationship is intentionally laden with a clear romantic subtext, and "outing" Anakin and Padme will open more possibilities in that regard, such as Ahsoka's jealousy and her taking measures to hide it, etc.)

 

You're kidding me right? Since we're talking EU, in the new Wild Space book Anakin thinks to himself how much he does not want a padawan or Ahsoka at all, though he likes her well enough. It also says he would die for Obi-Wan, and we see that in RotS! So I'm not getting your claim.

At the same time, your post scares me because it'll probably come true within the context of this show. Some random padawan never mentioned in the movies usurps Anakin & Obi-Wan's relationship on the basis of how well she can hide Anakin/Padme's treachery.

Though Obi-Wan did the same, but did it better. He knew about the relationship but let it go to make Anakin happy. *sigh*

Which is likely fairly close given the anguish Obi-Wan shows after Qui-Gon dies and Anakin viewing Obi-Wan as a father figure in AotC.

 

well I don't think there's going to be any sexual tension. I see Ashoka as becoming "part of the family" sort of speak...the Skywalker family, that is!

 

i ttaly think that ahsoka will find out but the problem is if anakin and her relationship grows more they mightstart to like eachother and ahsoka might get jelous but i just saw the blue shadow virus and ahsoka and padme meet but ahsoka seems to have no problm with her

 

There is no chance in hell, Anakin starts liking Ahsoka in a romantic way.

 

..Romantic/sexual tension between Anakin and Ahsoka? Really.. I mean I know a guy and a girl can't be thought of as just being friends. That's just unthinkable. Not to mention an older, married, human guy and an underage alien Padawan girl.
Yes, Ahsoka admires Anakin, cares for him. He's her Master. They bicker. They have nicknames for eachother. That's a little sister/big brother relationship for you. But yeah, it's so obviously romantic and sexual. I mean.. they spend time together and stuff.
Anyway, on topic. It might be interesting to see Ahsoka find out about Padme. She's learned more about attachments now, so who knows if she'd keep Anakin's secret or not. But Obi-Wan and Yoda certainly aren't surprised in RotS. I've wondered why neither of them said or did anything if they always suspected about Anakin and Padme.. It might make Ahsoka more useful and relate to the plot in the films more if she knew.

 

And it wasn't like Anakin was trying to hide his feelings for Padme, especially these last two episodes....heck, he practically yelled out her name so many times that it kept me wondering if Obi-Wan and the others knew.

 

So True...and by ROTS he wants to come out clean...maybe he does does want to tell the world even then regardless of consequences.

 

I assume that Obi-Wan knew given that his feelings tell him to go to Padme when he has to track down Vader.

 

Ahsoka has transplanted Obi-Wan as Anakin's good friend.


Only if you ignore the Republic/Clone Wars comics, where Obi-Wan and Anakin are very close.
