Speculation Will Disney make Star Wars cooler?

What if Warner Bros bought Star Wars? What are the other companies out there? Could anybody else do better? Could George Lucas do better? Will Star Wars do better if it's made more dark, like rated R, or will it do better if it is more geared for children?

What are the pros & cons of Disney? What are the strengths & weaknesses of Disney? Is Disney the biggest company out there? Does Disney have more money than anyone else to make films with than anybody else? Would Star Wars be darker if Warner Bros or Fox or Paramount Picture were making the next Star Wars films? Would it be the box office nightmare if Lucas Films went on to make the next films?

Is Disney's main strength is that they have enough money to make Star Wars work? Should Disney hire famous people like Lucas did in the Prequel Trilogies: people like Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman, & Ewan McGreggor? Back in the Original Trilogy, back then, not many people knew about Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher. Will famous actors, directors, etc, help or hurt the next films, or does it depend?


Will Disney dumb down Star Wars to make it too children friendly, & add a few Disney Princesses into it?

Disney bought the Power Rangers in 2001. I am a huge fan. I saw the Power Rangers film that came out in 1995. I really wish they made some Power Ranger films. I really wish that they could have made them cooler. Disney ended up selling the Power Rangers back to Fox or Saban in 2010. Maybe Disney didn't want to take a risk with them. Maybe there are not enough fans to make the Power Rangers cool enough for the theatre. So, Star Wars is obviously cooler, I guess.

Or did Disney failed with the Power Rangers?

If they did fail, then will Disney also fail with Star Wars, too?

Disney should go buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles next.

I think Disney wants to make money. If that is a true statement then they won't fix what ain't broke. Just make more, which GL wasn't able to do.

 

I would want to make Star Wars cooler, because that automatically means more money as well.

 

I think you missed my point -- it doesn't need to be "cooler."

 

This is not the case all of the time. Plenty of cult hits are "cool" and awesome but do not make money.

 

Dark City, amazing film... cult classic... never had much of a box office.

 

Yes, BUT I just watched it about a year ago. It was released to theaters one way and I watched the Director's cut and it was much better IMO. So sometimes studios screw themselves. IE Blade Runner. Director's cut is stronger, even more dystopian.

 

I love Joss Weadon shows, which are very cool, & I wish they made more money.

I liked that movie. Strangely, it doesn't seem George Lucas at all.

 

What I think they'll do is pour money and effort into it in ways GL didn't. They may try things he wasn't willing to do or never got around to trying. Honestly I suspect it'll be hit and miss with some great products and some that end up ignored or disliked, which is par for the course with Disney. As for the cool factor...eh, depends on your perspective of cool.

Another example... The Fifth Element.

Another amazingly cool and awesome film... barely a blip at the box office domestically. It was huge on the foreign market though.

 

One persons "cool" is anothers "Cringe moment"

All I would ask is a director with a good ability to direct people...and create good dialog. George created a fanastic universe that made my world a better place but his direction of people was lacking.

Batman and Robin ...Batman forever......not so cool...I few years ago the world was going crazy for spider man...now they seem campy

 

The Fifth Element was a great movie , the villain was sort of disappointing .
