ST Will Luke be out of practice?

So in ANH, Obi Wan was weak due to being in exile for 20 years and not practicing. But now, Luke has been in exile for 30 years! Does that mean he's a weak old man and is out of practice? I hope not. I personally like to believe that he's been training with ghost Yoda and ghost Obi Wan for 30 years. Is he out of practice or is what I believe true?

 

No. He has an elliptical trainer on Ahch-to. You can see it in the corner of the final shot.

 

I doubt it, unless Disney wants to send a big "eff you" to GL and his Skywalkers. I don't see them making Luke look inept. I think Dooku or PT Yoda is a better representation of what we'll see out of Luke, but hopefully he'll be beyond even those two.

So yeah. He's been exercising, and should be in excellent shape.

 

He trained Jedi before Kylo Ren turned on him so he has not been in exile for 30 years more like 5....

 

Obi Wan was living in a hut in the desert for like 20 years. Whereas Luke has apparently been gone for much shorter period of time. Also Obi Wan was "weaker" in the physical sense. Age and lack of practice had dulled his lightsaber skills, but his knowledge of The Force was much stronger.

It's not really the same situation. Especially since Luke has apparently bee actively searching for something that whole time.

People do know that Luke would only be in his mid-50's now right? Because some people are talking/acting like he's a super-old guy. But he's not. He's barely passed middle-age, if that.

 

Dooku was a powerful combatant and he was quite a bit older than Luke is.

I don't think Luke is going to be out of practice. I think Luke is going to scary if he's pissed off.

 

If anything, this should be Luke at his most powerful. He's had 30 more years worth of training and knowledge.

 

Hmm... So some of you really expect the theory of Luke going missing just 6 years before TFA to be true.

I would like it to be true as well. Let´s hope Bloodline confirms it.

 

I'm guessing he's only been away for a while, enough time for The First Order to become a legitimate threat. The opening crawl makes it seem recent to me as well - 'Luke Skywalker has vanished.' Vanish means to disappear suddenly.

 

And what's your theory? How long do you think he's been gone?

 

I don´t know. It was a neutral comment. I started thinking he had been gone for 10 years as some rumors said. Then I thought it would be more like 15 as it was when Rey was dropped on Jakku. Then when Pablo said the attack on the Jedi temple was more recent than 14 years, I went back to Luke being gone for 10 years. And now that Bloodline seems to hint at the event happening 6 years before TFA, I am going with that as well.

 

I believe it because it makes the most sense imo. Ben wiping out Luke's Jedi School and killing the other students when he was just an angry teenager seems MUCH less believable than him leaving, then coming back later to do that. Now whether it was 6 years ago, or 8, or a decade (I don't think that it was anymore than that btw), IDK yet.
