If Kylo is Luke's fallen apprentice, Luke may be killed by him as Obi-Wan was killed by his fallen apprentice...

It's been done. No need for a repeat there.

I seriously hope no one dies in Ep. VII, not even Han.

You can kill Han at the beginning of Ep. VIII, so Ford just need to commit to a few days/weeks of filming instead of months. Have Kylo Ren discover his powers at the end of VII and be a true beast at the beginning of VIII, showing him killing Han would be one hell of a way to start a movie. There hasn't been a Star Wars movie that had a main character killed in the first act, it would be a nice way to change things up.

Then have all the good guys trying to avenge him and get Luke killed at the end of VIII too, this time by the ancient Sith Lord, making for one hell of a dark movie.

I hope not, but I can't help but have the feeling that one of the older characters will die, just to mirror the deaths of major hero characters that we saw in Star Wars and TPM.

A single generation later? In the exact same circumstances, with Luke failing his first apprentice and dying at his hands?

    No. That's just lazy. [face_not_talking]

Luke's been keeping his cool for 30 years. Now there is the first sign of trouble he's just going to roll over and die? I think he will have more than enough fight in him to survive the trilogy

Now before I divulge further, I must iterate that I am a massive Luke fan. But here's the thing. I don't expect him to survive the ST. What better way to lend serious credence and thematic weight to a new lead antagonist, than to have him slay Luke Skywalker in a climatic, tension filled duel. Preferably not in the first episode. But perhaps in the second? My opinion..

I'm not gonna lie this crossed my mind. It's a good plot device to put the new guy on level w Vader.

I think this is a good bet. Don't think we'll get more than a fleeting glimpse of Uber in TFA. But I think a showdown between Luke and Uber could very well happen in E8. And it probably won't work out too well for Luke.

I'm really hoping that Luke's death will be done as an act of self-sacrifice. Perhaps he saves his padawan or his son from death by giving up his own fighting the Empire.

Nope. At the end of Episode IX, he finally gets to Tosche station to pick up those power converters.

Luke is far more crucial to Star Wars lore than either character. he needs to survive the ST.

It's definitely much more likely now he'll survive VII, so hopefully Luke is safe, for now.

I said this before in another thread but I wouldn't be surprised if the Lucas/Arndt script had Luke die at the end of Episode VII ala Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

That's probably one of the first things JJ Abrams threw out. Instead Han will make the heroic sacrifice.

Luke will be around in VIII and probably IX too I think. We'll get to see Yoda and maybe Obi-Wan (Ewan?) again as Force ghosts through him.

The big "audience cheers" moment of Ep. VII is gonna be when Luke "snaps out of it" and wrecks Kylo Ren's cocky *** for killing Han.
