Speculation Will Luke have the same lightsaber?

How many of you think Luke will have the same lightsaber from ROTJ? One part of me hopes he does for nostalgic reasons and another part wants a new one for prop collecting reasons

 

I would think it is a given that he would have the same saber.

 

It will probably be the same one.
I see no particular reason for it not to be, at least at the begining.

He may lose it later, only to have Obi-Wan's spirit appear to scold him.
Everyone's clamoring for cameos of everyone else, so there - that's Obi-Wan's.

 

Well... I'm split... When Obi was a young man he used one saber. Then when he became a master his saber changed. I could see that with Luke.

I see a scene in Lukes living quaters showing his sabers. And his fathers saber that he recovered from the Cloud City. I dunno...I could go either way with the saber thing.

 

He could use the same saber and loose it or it will be destroyed and then he is forced to use Vaders red lightsaber...

 

I'm more concerned about Hamill's acting than his lightsaber. I hope he's been polishing up.

As far as the lightsaber goes, yeah, I'd imagine he would still have his from ROTJ. I'll never forget the day I saw it for the first time at the theater -- brilliant and beautiful green.

 

Didn't he throw in on the floor in front of the Emperor?
I guess that if he had the time to drag Vader's body to the shuttle bay with all the explosions around he had time to pick up his lightsabre.

He did throw it on the floor, but at the end of the movie, he was wearing it again.
I think he'll have the same one. The prop guys will probably see to that.
Overall, I think they're all going to go for as much visual consistency with ROTJ as possible - just like they did with ROTS and ANH.

Voice acting is different to physical acting, if Hamill was better at the latter he might have had more live action film roles like Harrison Ford.

 

Dude, there are plenty of out of work actors better than Harrison Ford. Mark is just as talented in his own way. And he's done plenty of stage & film work. He's solid.

 

They'll be missing out on a great opportunity if he doesn't have the same saber. I like the idea of him recovering Anakin's saber too for a keepsake, it seems like something he'd do.

Probably, yes. Maybe a slightly more modern looking version, but still the same lightsaber.

 

Can think of no good reason to change his saber. It will be the same.

 

Luke will probably have the same lightsaber, it's iconic to his character.

 

Depends on what he's been up to. If things were relatively quiet - sure, why not. Otherwise, Jedi on duty seem to burn through the lightsabers really fast.

Wait, Luke recovered his saber in Cloud City? It fell in the pit I thought.

 

Palpatine recovered it... details are from the Thrawn Trilogy. Luke gets it back and passes it on to Mara Jade.

 

Actually it was Vader who recovered it (as well as luke's hand), who in turn gave it to Palpatine.
