    Why reference something of so little value to the story? Something that was obviously tacked on in a juvenile attempt to make things 'deep' when it really wasn't necessary?

    Just couldn't buy into that. For me it did nothing for Vader's character in the OT. It was just a silly idea told without any conviction whatsoever. Why go back to it in the ST? Totally pointless and a waste of screen time for everyone else. Leave that drivel be. :)

    Because Lucas might have had a story that ties into it. One of the rumors is that Darth Plagueis the Wise is either in the TFA, or his technique resulted in the creation of the film's villain.
