But, that also is a shock death. Death without reason just to shock the audience isn't a good thing, and it wastes good characters.

Yeah, I didn't have an answer for the "What would make you walk out of the theater" thread, and I still don't, but the above comes close

1st 15 minutes? Yeah, that would sting a little lol.

 

Saving your son's life is a waste of good character? Walking out, because a loved character in a movie is killed? Wow! Really? I mean Really? Well make sure you're sitting in from of me so I can throw popcorn at ya as you leave!

 

No, you miss my point. Your scenario basically says that Han, Luke, and Leia die randomly in the first 15 minutes of the film for no reason except to show that no one is safe. That's a needless and stupid character death which would be a gross mistake on the filmmaker's part. If, for example, Han went out saving his son's life in the first 30 minutes, that wouldn't be so much a waste of character.

Also, read a little more carefully.

Nothing would make me walk out. I'll stick around even if it takes place on Mon Calamari and stars the little mermaid. Doesn't mean I'll like it, but it'd be silly to walk out.

 

I'm hoping Han/Chewie/The Falcon go out in a blaze of glory, sacrificing themselves for the greater good. It would be epic, iconic, and a truly emotional send-off!

 

That's respectable, but 15 minutes is a long time. The Whole begining battle scene to ROTS was about 15 minutes, I feel that enough time to reconnect with the three characters in question. Besides its the remaining characters (Luke and Leia) that seem to be of more importance in a post Empire Star Wars Universe.

 

Seeing Han is going to be a tad older I think we will see the Falcon but it'll be on his front lawn with a tarp over it....he'll only take it out for vintage star ship rally's on every second Sunday of the month.

 

It was never Han, Luke and Leia. It was Han, Chewie and Lando in the sacrificed Falcon. Luke and Leia are too important to dispose of so early in the Sequel Trilogy.
